Doing something creative releases those “feel good” endorphins. A common comment in my weekly classes is “This is the highlight of my week. I come here to do art. But, I also come here to de-stress and to feel good.”

You get a boost from doing art. You also get a boost from having your classmates and your instructor celebrate with you when you complete a painting or drawing that you really love. I call this Creative Compassion. This is that chorus of “that is amazing” or “what a beautiful piece” that adds to those good feelings you come home with.

Instant feedback for a job well done is appreciated by every student. Here Janet Lashley congratulates Ann Resig on the completion of a beautiful ocean scene.

Congratulations Ann. Keep up the great work!
